About Jan Dobrovský
Jan Dobrovský is the Head of the Strategy and Business Support Unit of the Prague City Hall. He is in charge of coordinating business support and innovations within the City of Prague, including foreign trade. He is also responsible for providing assistance to investors, coming to Prague and is the Secretary of the Council of Economic and Social Cooperation of the City of Prague. Currently, he is as well taking up the coordination of activities within the Smart City concept, which is closely related to business and innovations.
Mr. Dobrovský studied Economic and Cultural Studies at the Czech University of Life Sciences Prague and graduated with honours. He also undertook long-term internships at the Selcuk University in Konya, Turkey and Nanjing Agriculture University in Nanjing, China. His academic activities focused on studying sociocultural and economic aspects of diverse societies in order to understand their specific needs within the field of economic relations development. During his studies, Jan was also very active as the Member of the Academic Senate of the Faculty of Economics and Management.
Jan Dobrovský began his professional career with the Motorola Company by coordinating the wireless network construction. He further focused on management and business and in the positions of Sales Manager and Managing Director ran companies in the field of investments and business consultancy. Mr. Dobrovský entered public administration via the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic, focusing on economic diplomacy and innovations. He set up the Business Support and Innovations Unit of the Prague City Hall, of which he was the Head for a long time. Later on he became the Director of the Business Activities Department and as such was in charge of 19 joint-stock companies, owned by the City of Prague, such as the Prague Public Transport Company, Prague Gas or Prague Services.
